The Congress party-led federal government is rolling out the red carpet for Abe,
recognizing the growing strategic and business importance of Japan to India. Abe,
who arrived in the country on Tuesday, is scheduled to address a joint session of the two houses of Parliament,
a courtesy not even extended to US President George W Bush when he visited India in March,
because of opposition by the left-wing parties.
